Obituary

Jeff broke a rule today and was punished. I assured him you’d give him a talking to! He has been leading up to this, so please cooperate by convincing him he must obey. He isn’t one to follow rules very easily. It’s a problem we are all working on. Thanks, Miss M.” 1959 Jeff Sarchin passed away on the evening of June 30, 2015. His family was standing with him: Susan, his wife of 42 years, his children Collin and Sarah, and his brother Larry Sarchin. At the age of 62, Jeff’s mind and body were strong, but his lungs just couldn’t keep up. Born Oct. 21, 1952 in Portland, Oregon, Jeff spent his childhood on Mercer Island, his teenage years in Ellensburg, and most of his adult life in Kenmore, Washington. He was a rule breaker as a child, a renegade as a teenager, a grateful husband and father, and for 30 years a skillful and compassionate Paramedic. His Parents, Norm and Donna Sarchin, have both passed, but the time Jeff spent with his mother during the last years of her life was a treasure to him. Jeff always had a guitar in the living room and a bicycle in the garage. He faced the difficulties of his youth with courage and honesty, and as an adult he built his life with passion and thoughtful direction. To the end, he was dispensing retirement advice, reassurance, love, and eyebrow humor. Jeff shunned nostalgia (except where the children are concerned), and was generous with friends but frugal with finances – he would have vetoed this obituary. He is survived by close friends and a large extended family who love and will miss him dearly.
