Wildland Firefighter Tom Zbyszewski was one of the three that were caught in the Twisp River Fire. Only 20, Tom was the youngest firefighter killed that day, a student at Whitman College. He followed in his parents’ footsteps to battle fires for the U.S. Forest Service. He was a physics major, a straight A student and poet, and planned to return to Whitman College for the start of the school year. Tom is deeply missed by his parents and his friends.
